Ipai Spaces, Research center and campus in Heilbronn, Germany
Espaces Ipai is a research and innovation center on a campus in Heilbronn, Germany, focused on applied artificial intelligence. It brings together companies, research groups, and public institutions that work side by side on AI applications for business and society.
The project was born out of a competition organized by the Baden-Württemberg state government, which Heilbronn won together with local companies and foundations. The city was officially chosen in 2021 to host the new AI hub, and the first groundbreaking ceremony took place in 2022.
IPAI SPACES regularly hosts events, talks, and workshops focused on artificial intelligence. The venue draws people from research, business, and the public sector who come to exchange ideas and work on shared projects.
The site is located within Heilbronn city limits and is reachable by public transport. Anyone wishing to visit should check in advance whether events or guided tours are available, as access to the campus is not fully open to the public at all times.
The main campus layout was designed by the Dutch architecture firm MVRDV as a circular arrangement intended to encourage movement and exchange between buildings. A central communications building with a reflective exterior and a height of over 195 feet (60 meters) will serve as the most visible reference point on the site.
