Ahmet Kutsi Tecer Kültür Evi, Museum and cultural house in Apçağa, Erzincan, Turkey

Ahmet Kutsi Tecer Kültür Evi is a museum and cultural house in the village of Apçağa, in the Kemaliye district of Erzincan, Turkey. The two-story building, built in the style of traditional village houses, stands at the entrance of the village square.

The village of Apçağa was listed as a protected historical site in 2003 and was chosen by the Ministry of Culture in 2006 as the best-preserved village in Turkey. The cultural house itself was built by villagers in cooperation with Tecer's family and opened in 2014.

Villagers donated personal items, letters, and books from Tecer's family, which are now displayed on the upper floor. The lower floor is arranged like a traditional living space, with Eğin carpets, wooden sedirs, and a tandır oven that was once used for heating and cooking.

The building is easy to reach on foot from the village square, as it sits right at its entrance. It is worth setting aside time to walk through the village lanes and wooden houses nearby.

Ahmet Kutsi Tecer never actually lived in Apçağa, as his father was born there but the family lived elsewhere. Yet he dedicated his most famous poem, 'Orada Bir Köy Var Uzakta' (There is a Village Far Away), to this place, and the poem is still recited by heart across Turkey today.
