Čerťák, Ski jumping stadium in Harrachov, Czech Republic
Čerťák is a ski jumping complex on the north side of Čertova hora in Harrachov that features multiple jumps of different sizes for training and competitions. The site ranges from smaller ramps with critical points starting at 40 meters to the impressive K180 mammoth ramp used for ski flying events.
The oldest jump in Harrachov was built in 1920 when the town was called Harrachdorf, named after Count Harrach who owned the area. Between 1978 and 1983 the larger ramps were built higher on Čertova hora, and the K180 ramp became a host site for World Cup events and World Championships in four separate years.
The name Čerťák refers to the devil in Czech, reflecting the boldness required for the sport. Today the complex serves as a gathering place for ski jumping enthusiasts and demonstrates how deeply the local community values and supports this tradition.
The complex is easily reached from Harrachov town center and features viewing platforms and pathways that allow visitors safe access to the ramps. Nearby accommodation options including hotels and pensions make it simple to visit and explore the site fully.
The K180 ramp is one of the six largest ski flying ramps in the world and earns the nickname mammoth ramp because of its scale. Despite its global significance, many visitors to the region overlook this impressive structure even though it dominates the landscape.
