Jubilee Synagogue, Art Nouveau synagogue in New Town, Czech Republic
The Jubilee Synagogue is a prayer house in Art Nouveau style with Moorish elements, featuring two towers flanking the main entrance and a large rose window. The building includes galleries and separate entrances for different areas of the community.
The building was constructed between 1905 and 1906, replacing three earlier Jewish prayer houses that were demolished during Prague's urban renewal program. The new structure was part of a broader city redesign that modernized the district.
The interior displays traditional Jewish symbols such as the Star of David and grape vine motifs integrated throughout the decorative elements.
The building is accessible to visitors during opening hours, and religious services take place regularly. It is recommended to check current visiting conditions in advance to plan your visit properly.
The building houses an original organ by Emanuel Stephen Peter, which is played during concert events. This instrument adds a special musical dimension to the space during performances.
