Úvaly is a town with municipal privileges located in Prague-East District, roughly 15 kilometers east of Prague. The municipality spans across the Prague Plateau with the Výmola stream running through its center area.
The town first appeared in written records in 1290 as a settlement along a trade route connecting Prague to Kutná Hora. In 1654 it gained market town status, marking its growth as a trading center.
