Palladium, Shopping center and cultural monument in New Town, Prague, Czech Republic
Palladium is a shopping center in New Town that spans five floors and houses approximately 180 retail shops along with around 20 dining establishments. The structure combines modern commercial functions with preserved elements from an 18th-century military barracks building.
The site originally housed military barracks before undergoing complete transformation during extensive reconstruction completed in 2007. This conversion created a modern commercial center while retaining the original architectural facade.
The name Palladium evokes Minerva, the goddess of wisdom, reflecting the site's importance as a major commercial hub in the city center today. Visitors experience the blend of modern shopping culture alongside preserved facades that recall the location's historical roots.
The center is located at Republic Square with direct metro access, making it easy to arrive by public transportation. Those traveling by car will find large underground parking facilities beneath the building.
The interior features remarkable architecture with open floors that create visual continuity between different shopping levels. This design choice allows visitors to grasp the full scope of offerings without needing to explore each floor separately.
