Rabštejn nad Střelou

Rabštejn nad Střelou is a small medieval settlement nestled in the Střela River valley, where stone towers and fortification walls define the landscape. The site features multiple structures from different periods, including Gothic elements that were later enhanced with Renaissance details.

The settlement was established in the 14th century when Oldřich Pluh built a castle with two round towers in the Gothic style. Later, under Lorenz Schlik's rule, Renaissance features were added, transforming the appearance of the place.

The religious statues scattered throughout the settlement reflect the spiritual life of past centuries. They stand as quiet reminders of how faith shaped the community's everyday spaces.

Visitors should know that the settlement is very small and today serves mainly as vacation homes for seasonal visitors. It is best to arrange accommodation and meals in nearby Manětín or in larger towns in the surrounding area.

An ancient stone bridge connects the lower houses with the elevated medieval structures and is itself considered a technical monument. This structure shows how earlier inhabitants engineered access across the challenging terrain.
