Servite monastery in Rabštejn nad Střelou, Baroque monastery in Rabštejn nad Střelou, Czech Republic
The Servite monastery in Rabshtejn nad Strelou is a baroque building featuring a stone facade with architectural details from the late renaissance and early baroque periods, designed by Anselmo Lurago. The complex includes structures arranged around a courtyard with typical monastic layouts from that era.
The monastery was built during the baroque period and served the Servite Order until April 2019 when operations ceased. It was then granted protected cultural monument status.
The monastery was a center of prayer and devotion that shaped community life for generations in this region. Pilgrims and locals gathered here for religious ceremonies that marked important moments throughout the year.
The monastery grounds can be reached via a seven-kilometer educational trail that connects several historical landmarks throughout the region. The path is suitable for walking and provides a way to visit multiple sites in one trip.
Near the monastery lie abandoned quarries that once supplied slate for major Czech monuments. This slate was used to build Saint Vitus Cathedral and Karlstejn Castle.
