Czarny Grzbiet, Mountain ridge in Karkonosze National Park, Poland and Czech Republic
The Czarny Grzbiet ridge extends for 3 kilometers between Przełęcz pod Śnieżką and Przełęcz Sowią, reaching elevations between 1400 and 1480 meters above sea level.
During the 19th century, miners extracted valuable minerals including copper, lead, and gold from multiple operations along the slopes of Czarny Grzbiet.
The ridge forms part of two protected areas: Karkonoski National Park on the Polish side and Krkonošsko-Škoczny National Park on the Czech territory.
Multiple marked hiking trails lead to the summit, connecting with the chairlift station at Śnieżka and providing access to rest points along the route.
The geological composition of metamorphic rocks, mainly gneisses and phyllites with amphibolite layers, creates distinct weathering patterns across the ridge surface.
