Muzeum Těšínska, Regional museum in Český Těšín, Czech Republic
Muzeum Těšínska is a regional museum in Český Těšín that operates across twelve separate branches and exhibition spaces. The collections document the material history and heritage of Těšín Silesia through various objects and displays.
The institution was founded in 1948 by teacher Ladislav Báča as a project to preserve regional objects. Over more than seven decades, it grew into a significant collection reflecting the development of Těšín Silesia.
The museum displays traditional clothing and silver jewelry from the region, showing the skilled craftsmanship of local people. These objects tell the story of everyday life and special occasions when residents wore their finest pieces.
The exhibitions are open on weekday and weekend afternoons, with multiple locations throughout the area to visit. Guided tours are available upon request and help you navigate through the distributed collections.
The museum houses the original Těrlicko Madonna painting from the 15th century, a remarkable work of late Gothic art. This artwork is one of the highlights of the permanent exhibition about Těšín Silesia's past.
