Žižkův dub is a mighty oak tree in Třemošnice that rises to 28 meters tall with a trunk measuring about 890 centimeters around. Its impressive size makes it one of the largest memorial oaks in Chrudim district and dominates the local landscape.
The oak dates to around the 13th century, appearing during the founding period of nearby Lichnice Castle. Since then it has witnessed the military conflicts and changes that shaped this part of the Czech landscape.
The tree bears the name of Jan Žižka, the military commander of the Hussite movement, connecting visitors to medieval Czech struggles. Walking around it, you can feel how local people link this oak to their regional identity and past.
