Lichnice

Lichnice is a 13-meter steel observation structure located within the ruins of Lichnice Castle, featuring a spiral wooden staircase that climbs to an elevated viewing platform. The construction blends contemporary design with the historic setting of the former castle grounds.

The tower was constructed in 2017 and rises from the remains of a castle founded in the 13th century by Smil Světlický of Lichtenberg. This modern addition brought renewed purpose to the historic castle site.

The tower bears the name Milada and is part of a series of numbered observation structures across Eastern Bohemia, reflecting regional architectural development over time. This collection shows how communities in the area have built upon past sites.

The tower is accessible from Tuesday through Sunday during May to September, with limited openings in April and October. Comfortable clothing and sturdy footwear are advisable for climbing the spiral stairs.

The metal surfaces of the tower feature a matte coating to prevent sunlight reflection and protect the viewing experience. From the top, visitors can spot Kolín, Kutná Hora, and distant mountain ridges on clear days.
