Church of Saint Mary of Help

The Church of Saint Mary of Help is positioned about three kilometers south of Zlaté Hory at an elevation of 875 meters, nestled below the Příčný vrch peak. The building stands at a height that offers views across the surrounding mountainous terrain and serves as a focal point in the landscape.

The original church was demolished in 1973 during the communist era, but reconstruction began in the early 1990s. A new cornerstone was blessed by Pope John Paul II in 1990, and the rebuilt structure reopened to the public in 1995.

The site functions as a place of pilgrimage where visitors come to pray and find spiritual solace together. Its appeal stems from a personal story of refuge that transformed the location into a gathering place for faith and community devotion over many generations.

The church is open daily from 8:00 to 18:00 between April and September, with shorter hours from 8:00 to 16:00 during winter months. Visitors should prepare for a short walk from parking and consider the weather conditions at this mountain elevation.

A sacred spring beside the building survived the 1973 demolition and remains accessible to visitors today. This natural water source has become an important part of the pilgrimage experience.
