Čertův most, Natural arch in Blansko, Czech Republic
Čertův most is a limestone arch with two openings of different sizes situated within a densely forested section of the Dry Gorge. The larger opening rises approximately 18 meters and creates a natural passage through the rock formation.
In the 19th century, Hugo František Salm built a viewing pavilion across from the arch, making it the second most visited location in the region after Macocha Abyss. This structure drew organized visitors early on and shaped the area's tourism development.
The name Devil's Bridge comes from local legends and folklore connected to this natural formation in the Moravian Karst region. Visitors experience the story directly when passing through the distinctive stone archway.
Access involves a 500-meter walk along an asphalt road from Kateřinská Cave parking area, followed by a short climb on a marked path. Proper footwear is recommended, as the route to the arch can be uneven and the climb is moderate.
The structure becomes nearly invisible during summer months when dense foliage conceals it completely, making winter the best time for observation. This seasonal contrast means each visit offers a different visual experience depending on the time of year.
