The Velké Kino building features a welded steel truss construction without auxiliary beams, reaching heights between 10 and 12 meters.
Architect František Lydie Gahura designed this cinema, which opened on September 7, 1932, as part of a new development center in Zlín.
With an initial capacity of 2,264 seats, this cinema became the largest movie theater in Czechoslovakia and Central Europe during the 1930s.
The cinema building covers 2,110 square meters and underwent major renovations in 1958, which included changes to the interior layout and addition of cloakrooms.
The building's walls contain green jute fabric treated with fire-resistant materials to ensure proper acoustics throughout the theater space.
