The Václav Havel bench features two chairs connected by a round table with a tree growing through its center at Gahurův prospekt.
Architect Bořek Šípek designed this memorial site, which opened on November 14, 2019, as part of a worldwide initiative to honor the former Czech president.
The bench serves as a meeting point for citizens to engage in discussions about democracy, human rights, and civic responsibilities in the spirit of Havel.
Visitors can find information panels displaying quotes from Václav Havel around the bench, which combines steel and wood in its construction.
This installation belongs to a global network of similar spaces initiated by Czech Ambassador Petr Gandalovič to promote meaningful dialogue between citizens.
