The structure displays a notable curved southern side with four windows on each level separated by vertical pillars.

The building was designed in 1927 by architects František Lydie Gahura and Vladimír Karfík for Jan Antonín Baťa, who ran the company's shoe manufacturing operation. It was built during the period when the Baťa factory was reshaping the city into a major industrial modernist center.
