Lobkovická zahrada

Lobkovická zahrada is a terraced garden in Prague that rises across multiple levels connected by staircases and pathways. The grounds feature open lawns with seating areas and sightlines toward Prague Castle and the old town across the skyline.

The garden was established in 1696 after a nobleman received permission to build a palace structure at this location. The landscaping design reflected the baroque architectural fashion of that era.

The name recalls the Lobkowitz family, who held ownership of the adjacent palace for generations. Visitors today encounter artworks and monuments along the pathways that reflect the location's layered past.

The grounds divide into two sections, with the northern area having restricted access and the southwestern portion open for visitors to explore freely. Sturdy footwear is recommended since numerous staircases connect the different elevation levels throughout the property.

Medieval tunnels run beneath the grounds, including a passage known as Tunnel XXII that features rotating photographic exhibitions about Prague's underground spaces. These hidden passages reveal a lesser-explored layer of the city's substructure.
