Hornopožárský les, Nature park in Krhanice, Czech Republic

Hornopožárský les is a woodland area along the right bank of the Sazava River, featuring granite boulders and numerous hiking paths through oak and beech forests. The park offers well-developed trails and diverse natural elements throughout its terrain.

The name comes from the Horní Požáry chateau with its hunting lodge, built in the middle of the forests by Archduke Franz Ferdinand d'Este, heir to the Austro-Hungarian throne. The area later became a natural park of about 25 km², protecting forests with remnants of original deciduous stands, granite quarries and boulders.

The park lies about 20 km south of Prague, between Kamenice, Krhanice, Jílové u Prahy and Týnec nad Sázavou, on the right bank of the Sázava. Trails are marked for walkers and cyclists, and the area is served by the Posázavský pacifik railway line and road II/107.
