Hornopožárský les

Hornopožárský les is a woodland area along the right bank of the Sazava River, featuring granite boulders and numerous hiking paths through oak and beech forests. The park offers well-developed trails and diverse natural elements throughout its terrain.

The area received official designation as a natural park in 2002 following Czech nature protection legislation established in 1992. This formal recognition marked an important step in safeguarding the region.

The area includes the Horni Pozary hunting lodge, built at the request of Archduke Ferdinand d'Este who maintained ties to these forests. This historical structure reflects long-standing human connections to the region.

The park is accessible from Jilove u Prahy or Kamenice, with marked trails leading through the forest toward the Prague-Vienna cycling route. Well-organized pathways make it easy to explore the area independently.

At Knezi Mountain, large granite boulders display natural bowl-shaped depressions formed by erosion, with the largest stone resembling a mushroom. These unusual formations are the result of countless years of natural weathering.
