Strádov

Strádov is a Gothic castle ruin situated on elevated terrain near Nasavrky. The remains consist of two principal structures displaying medieval fortification features and pointed arch windows characteristic of the era.

The castle was built in the 14th century under King John of Bohemia to monitor local waterways and trade routes. It served as a crucial stronghold for generations until widespread damage in the 17th century ended its military role.

This former residence served as a seat for a noble family that governed and protected the surrounding lands. Today visitors can observe how the structure was designed to combine daily living with defensive needs.

The site can be reached via marked pathways that guide visitors through the ruins and connect different areas. Wear sturdy footwear and proceed with care, as some sections have uneven ground and deteriorating structures.

This fortress occupied a strategic location to observe merchant ships on the river and collect tolls from passing trade. This position was central to its importance and how the ruling family accumulated wealth and maintained power over centuries.
