Strádovské Peklo

Strádovské Peklo is a nature reserve in the Czech Republic featuring a deep valley carved by the Chrudimka River through granite rock formations. The landscape shows steep valley walls, dense forest cover, and the river running through narrow passages between stone cliffs.

The area received protected status in 1994 to preserve forest ecosystems and endangered species found in the valley. This designation secured the gorge's conservation as an important natural site.

The neighboring Slavická game preserve, established before 1770 by Prince Auersperg, maintains traditional deer and mouflon breeding practices in the region.

The best time to visit is between June and August when hiking conditions are favorable. Sturdy footwear is recommended since trails cross rocky terrain with frequent uneven ground.

Extensive stone fields formed by frost weathering over thousands of years create a distinctive landscape within the gorge. Perched above the river are ruins of a medieval castle that overlook this geological formation.
