The Krkanka reserve encompasses a deep wooded valley with diverse ecosystems, including forests, meadows, and water bodies across 98.1 hectares of protected land.
The reserve, established in December 1990, contains remnants of a Celtic settlement from the 2nd century BC within the České Lhotice municipality.
Multiple marked trails connect the reserve to surrounding villages, allowing visitors to explore both natural landscapes and archaeological sites of Celtic heritage.
The reserve maintains several hiking paths, including a blue trail from Nasavrky to Libáň and a yellow trail from Hradiště to Šiškovice.
The Chrudimka River carved a rocky canyon through the reserve, creating distinct geological formations at an elevation of 350 meters above sea level.
