The Toy Museum

The Toy Museum houses thousands of toys in seven rooms across two floors, including wooden and tin pieces, trains, and figures from different periods. The collection spans from ancient times to the present day and shows how children's toys have developed over centuries.

The museum was founded in 1989 and is based on the private collection gathered by Ivan Steiger over many decades. The collection documents the history of toys from ancient times to modern era and shows which playthings existed across different historical periods.

The exhibition shows traditional Czech toys and international collections that reflect how play and playthings have changed over time. You can see how different cultures entertained children and which toys were popular in different periods.

The museum is located in the Old Count's Chambers near Golden Lane and opens daily for visitors. Plan enough time to explore all seven rooms at a comfortable pace without feeling rushed.

The collection ranks among the world's largest toy collections and contains playthings from many centuries. Visitors can see pieces that are often overlooked, including rare vintage trains and handmade toys that show how children played in earlier times.
