Libušín

Libušín is a mountain hut in Prostřední Bečva situated at around 1,000 meters elevation with a wooden structure featuring decorative elements of regional folk architecture. The building provides dining and shelter for hikers and connects to numerous marked trails throughout the surrounding region.

The structure was built in 1899 by architect Dušan Jurkovič and reflects the art nouveau style of that era. After a devastating fire in 2014, it reopened in 2020 using traditional craftsmanship methods.

The building displays the architectural traditions of Moravian folk design with painted decorations and carved wooden details throughout. Visitors can see these traditional craftsmanship techniques in both the dining hall and the exterior walls.

The hut is accessible via marked trails from several directions and offers meals and overnight accommodations. Visitors should be aware that the high elevation can bring rapidly changing weather conditions.

The rebuilding effort after the fire demonstrated exceptional commitment to authentic reconstruction using 19th-century techniques rather than modern methods. This level of craftsmanship made the project a noteworthy example of preserving architectural heritage.
