Church of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross, Baroque church in Město Libavá, Czech Republic.

The Church of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross is a single-nave stone church with a square west tower (11 m per side) topped by a broken pyramidal roof. The nave measures 26 by 17 m and has a barrel vault divided by four transverse arches. The presbytery has a semicircular apse; the 1669 date and a cross are carved on the main entrance lintel.

A wooden church with a stone wall and a rectory are first documented in 1528; the wooden church was judged unfit and demolished, and a stone church was begun in 1662 under the Olomouc master builder Petr Schüller, with funding from Bishop Karl von Lichtenstein-Castelcorn. A fire in 1817 destroyed the church, the rectory, the school and seven surrounding buildings; rebuilding lasted until 1837. In 1950 the church was handed to the army and used as a store, and in 2016 it passed to the newly formed municipality.

The church is dedicated to the Exaltation of the Holy Cross, a title it received on 24 June 1808, when auxiliary bishop Alois Josef Count Kolovrat-Krakovský consecrated it. The high altar, carved in 1714, holds a painting of the Finding of the Holy Cross, and a chronogram above the presbytery's middle window reads REX CHRISTE DOMINE CRVCIFIXE SALVE DEI GLORIA AETERNA, hiding the year 1936.

The church stands inside the Libavá military training area, so access is restricted and visits must be arranged with the Újezdní úřad. The building was opened to the public in 2005. The tower entrance is through a low annex on its north wall, while the main door leads under the tower.

From 1950 the church was taken from the parish and handed to military unit 8129 Město Libavá, which used it as a warehouse; a wooden structure on brick pillars split the interior into two floors. Neglect led to the roof collapsing in 1997 and the army considered demolition. A citizens' initiative saved the building, and in 2017 a bell was hung in the tower.
