Church of Saint Adalbert

The Church of Saint Adalbert in Libice nad Cidlinou is a brick building with a simple rectangular form that was reconstructed in 1836. The structure displays classical church elements including pointed windows and a straightforward roof design typical of the period.

The church site holds the remains of a 10th-century church that dates to the early settlement period of the Slavník dynasty. The current building as it stands today emerged much later, reflecting the region's religious transformation over the centuries.

The church is named after Saint Adalbert, a figure central to early Bohemian Christianity. Visitors can experience how the building continues to serve as an active place of worship in the community.

The building sits on Kostelní street near the town center and can be reached on foot. Visiting is best done during regular opening times or services when the church is actively used by the community.

The archaeological layers beneath the current structure date from an early Slavník settlement in the 10th century. These remains reveal a significant settlement that would eventually transform into a religious center.
