Lanová dráha Podbaba – Bohnice, Cable car project between Podbaba and Bohnice in Prague, Czech Republic
The Podbaba-Bohnice cable car is a proposed aerial transit system designed to connect three stations across Prague. The installation would use overhead cables to transport passengers between separate points in the city.
The cable car concept was first proposed in 2016 as a temporary transit solution before a planned tram line could be built. This interim idea emerged to address connectivity needs between the districts during the waiting period.
The stations feature circular designs incorporating retail spaces, cafes, and viewing platforms that integrate with the surrounding urban landscape.
The system passes through accessible viewing areas where people can observe the cable movement and station points. Getting to each location is straightforward with clear sight lines from nearby neighborhoods.
The Troja station would serve as the operational heart where mechanics and machinery for the system are housed. From this vantage point, riders would have had panoramic views of the river and bike routes below.
