Svatobor, Transmitter station on Svatobor mountain near Sušice, Czech Republic.
Svatobor is a transmitter station located on a mountain near Sušice, featuring a 75-meter tower positioned at approximately 834 meters elevation in the Šumava region. The facility stands within a landscape of hiking trails and forest terrain.
The original lookout tower erected in 1900 was damaged by structural problems and collapsed in 1934. It was promptly rebuilt and transformed into the current broadcasting facility.
The mountain location serves both as a communication center and a recreational destination with an observation tower offering views of the Bohemian landscape.
The location is accessible by car via Hrádek and Odolenov, or hikers can follow a marked red trail from Sušice with a climb of approximately 350 meters. Both driving and walking routes provide straightforward access to the area.
A visitor cottage on the site once functioned as a rest home and military installation before being returned to public recreational use. This dual history shows how the mountain has served different purposes across time.
