Himmel Park, Urban park in Midtown Tucson, United States.
Himmel Park is an urban green space in Midtown Tucson spanning 25 acres (10 hectares) with large mature trees, grass fields, tennis courts, a swimming pool, playgrounds, and a library branch. Its different zones allow visitors of all ages to pursue various activities.
The land was sold to Tucson in 1935 by Alvina Himmel Edmonson with the requirement that it be named after her parents. This gift established the foundation for the neighborhood's recreational offerings today.
The park functions as a central meeting place where neighbors gather for events, sports, and recreation throughout the year. People from the surrounding area use it regularly as part of their daily routines.
The park is located on North Tucson Boulevard and is accessible daily, though parking spaces are limited for visitors. Plan your visit during quieter times or use alternative routes for easier access.
A Southern Pacific steam locomotive was displayed in the park from 1962 to 2000 before moving to a transportation museum. This historic train piece served as a distinctive landmark for the area for several decades.
