Arizona Stadium, American football stadium at University of Arizona, Tucson, US.
Arizona Stadium is an American football stadium at the University of Arizona in Tucson and features a 5,356-square-foot video display above the south stands. The playing field runs north to south and is surrounded by stands on both long sides and a closed south end.
The stadium opened in 1929 with an initial capacity of 7,000 seats on the west side. The first game ended with a 35-0 victory against Caltech and marked the beginning of home games at this location.
The ZonaZoo student section holds 9,000 supporters along the lower east sideline and creates a lively mood during University of Arizona Wildcats games. Fans often wear red clothing and support the team loudly throughout the season.
The complex includes two dormitories under the south stands as well as football program offices and a mirror laboratory. Visitors can enter the grounds on game days and should expect large crowds and longer waiting times.
The Ring of Fame on the west facade stretches 420 feet (128 meters) and honors football players who achieved All-America status or led national statistics. The names are engraved on bronze plaques and remain visible to visitors even outside game days.
