Prairie Queen Recreation Area, Protected area in Papillion, Nebraska, US
Prairie Queen Recreation Area is a protected area covering 335 acres with a 135-acre lake that provides trails, fishing spots, and picnic facilities. The site maintains designated parking areas, restrooms, and drinking water stations throughout its grounds.
The recreation area was established in March 2015 by the Papio-Missouri River Natural Resources District. The project was designed to provide flood control protection for the surrounding region.
The site hosts an 18-hole disc golf course where local athletes gather year-round to practice and compete in a casual, community-oriented setting.
A no-wake boating policy is enforced on the lake to protect the water environment. Arriving early in the day gives you better chances of finding good fishing and picnic spots.
The Nebraska Game and Parks Commission regularly stocks the lake with largemouth bass, channel catfish, and multiple sunfish species to support recreational fishing. This management practice has made the lake popular among anglers seeking consistent catches.
