East Jersey Old Town Village, Heritage village in Piscataway Township, United States.
East Jersey Old Town Village is an outdoor museum with sixteen restored buildings from the 18th and 19th centuries that show life in the Raritan Valley region. The structures stand together like a historical settlement and give a view of how people built and lived during that era.
The village was established to preserve the cultural heritage of early European settlers who arrived in the region starting in the late 17th century. Many of the buildings standing today come from different historical periods and were moved to this location to document the settlement history of the area.
Costumed interpreters demonstrate traditional crafts and skills that shaped daily life in the region across multiple centuries. Visitors can watch how people spent their time and what work formed part of their everyday routines.
Most buildings can be visited, though some are only accessible with a guide or open seasonally. It helps to wear comfortable shoes since the site is large and you will walk quite a bit.
The site holds the Indian Queen Tavern, a inn from 1729 that reflects the history of local travel and hospitality from the colonial era. This building was moved here to preserve it and offer insight into early tavern life in the region.
