Two elephants cast in bronze stand together, with the smaller elephant positioned on top of the larger one, measuring 3.4 meters in height.
The design originates from a late Shang dynasty wine pitcher dated between 1200-1100 BC, scaled sixteen times larger than the original artifact.
The sculpture features intricate patterns including cloud shapes and mythological animals from Chinese tradition, representing the connection between generations.
Visitors can find this bronze artwork between West Burnside and Northwest Couch streets, near a children's playground in downtown Portland.
The sculpture was gifted to Portland by Hao Bao Zhu following his successful leukemia treatment in the city, expressing gratitude through cultural exchange.
