Completed in 1983 at a cost of 128 million dollars, the tower served as the national headquarters for U.S. Bancorp until corporate offices moved to Minneapolis in 1997.
The building's pink granite and glass exterior earned it the name 'Big Pink', making it a recognizable element of the Portland business district.
The structure contains 69,000 square meters of office space with 20 elevators, establishing its position as the largest office building by volume in Oregon.
The tower's irregular footprint contains no right angles due to the surrounding street grid, resulting in an unconventional architectural solution by Skidmore Owings Merrill.
