Dick's Classic Garage is an automobile museum in San Marcos that focuses on American cars from the 1930s through the 1950s. The collection displays carefully selected vehicles that represent different phases of automotive development during this era.
The museum was established in 2009 after the collection was relocated from the Central Texas Museum of Automotive History in Rosanky. This move brought a long-maintained vehicle collection to its current location.
The museum's name comes from founder Dick Burdick, a Texas businessman and car collector who opened it in 2009. He had earlier run the Central Texas Museum of Automotive History in Rosanky from 1980 to 2012, and when that closed, ninety cars went to auction while the rest moved here.
The museum has workshop areas where mechanics maintain the cars and demonstrate their work to visitors. You can watch how these classic vehicles are cared for and preserved on site.
The 1948 Tucker Sedan on display is chassis number 1050, the lowest-mileage Tucker known, with 0.4 miles (about 0.6 km) on its odometer. The museum, open from 2009 to 2018, also had a restoration area.
