First Harrison Gray Otis House
First Harrison Gray Otis House, Federal-style mansion in West End, Boston, United States.
The First Harrison Gray Otis House features symmetrical facades, fanlight windows, and palladian windows at 141 Cambridge Street in Boston's historic district.
Charles Bulfinch designed this residence in 1796 for Harrison Gray Otis, who served as a Massachusetts senator and Boston mayor from 1829 to 1832.
The interior displays period furnishings that represent the domestic life of upper-class Boston residents during the late eighteenth century.
Historic New England maintains the property as a museum and administrative center, offering guided tours that explain Federal architecture and Boston's development.
The entire house moved 40 feet from its original location in 1925 to accommodate the widening of Cambridge Street in Boston's West End.
