Third National Bank Building, building in Gastonia, North Carolina, United States

The Third National Bank Building is an eight-story commercial structure in Gastonia, completed in 1923 by Milburn, Heister & Company. It features a steel frame clad in red brick and stone with molded terra cotta ornaments at the top, and a prominent two-story segmental arch framing the main entrance.

Built in 1923, the structure originally served as a bank for the town's financial transactions. Over the decades it was converted to office space and became known locally as the Lawyer's Building, before being added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1986.

The building's name reflects its original role as a financial institution central to the town's economy. Walking past today, you can observe how the design conveys solidity and trustworthiness, values that were important to the community in the early 20th century.

The building is located at 195 West Main Avenue in downtown Gastonia and is easily accessible on foot. It sits near other historic sites and local shops, making it convenient to visit while exploring the town center.

The structure underwent a notable shift in its professional use over time. After conversion to office space, it became known locally as the Lawyer's Building, showing how commercial buildings adapt to serve different community needs.
