Evergreen Lake, artificial lake on the McLean County/Woodford County line in Illinois
Evergreen Lake is a reservoir in McLean County, Kansas Township, Hudson Township. The body of water covers about 900 acres with approximately 22.5 miles of shoreline, surrounded by forests, grasslands, and a recreation area with camping spots and boat access.
The lake was originally built to supply drinking water to Bloomington. It has served as a water reserve for the community for many years, collecting water from Six Mile Creek and surrounding farmland.
Visitors over age 16 need a fishing license to fish legally at this location. Boats including canoes, kayaks, and small motorized vessels can be rented from the dock, and various camping areas are available around the shoreline for overnight stays.
The lake is part of a managed area where local departments remove invasive plants and maintain environmental health. The surrounding farmland increasingly uses sustainable practices such as no-till planting and cover crops to reduce runoff and protect water quality.
