Museum of the Bible, Biblical museum in Washington, United States
Museum of the Bible is a Bible museum in Washington, D.C., United States, with over three thousand objects across six floors. The rooms present text fragments, archaeological finds, and multimedia installations on biblical themes.
The house opened in November 2017 after a building from 1923 was extensively redesigned. Pope Francis gave the project his blessing.
The institution shows visitors material evidence of religious writings, including old manuscripts and prints from several centuries. The name refers to the text collection that Jews and Christians consider sacred.
The building is equipped with elevators and wide corridors for wheelchair users. Several dining facilities, including a kosher restaurant and a café, serve guests.
At the entrance stand bronze doors with stained glass windows that are about forty feet (twelve meters) tall and show creation scenes. The doors weigh several tons and were specially made for this access.
