Shaw Library

Shaw Library stands as a three-floor modern facility designed by Davis Brody Bond, featuring dedicated spaces for children, teens, and adults with extensive collections of books, digital media, and community resources.

Officially opened in August 2010, this library was established as part of the District of Columbia Public Library system to serve the diverse Shaw neighborhood community with educational and informational resources.

The library serves as a community hub hosting book clubs, author talks, virtual reality gaming sessions, boxing fitness classes, and cultural exhibitions that reflect the rich heritage of the Shaw neighborhood.

Located at 1630 7th Street NW across from a Metro station, the library operates weekdays from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM, offering free Wi-Fi, computer access, printing services, and meeting room reservations.

This facility incorporates LEED certification for energy efficiency and features assistive technologies including ZoomText and JAWS software, making it one of the most accessible libraries in the District of Columbia.
