Griffith Stadium, Baseball stadium in Shaw neighborhood, Washington, D.C., US.

Steel and concrete structure built between Georgia Avenue and 5th Street housed baseball games with double-decked grandstands extending from home plate to foul poles.

The stadium replaced a wooden ballpark destroyed by fire in 1911, serving as home to the American League Senators through 1960 and hosting World Series games.

Every United States president from William Howard Taft to John F. Kennedy participated in the ceremonial first pitch tradition at this baseball venue.

The stadium maintained a seating capacity of 27,410 with lower grandstands stretching to each foul pole and bleachers from left field to centerfield.

The facility included a special Presidential box constructed next to the first base dugout, reserved exclusively for the United States President during games.
