Lake Catherine State Park CCC Cabins

The Lake Catherine State Park cabins are four rustic wooden buildings with stone chimneys and wood siding along the lake shore. Each features a living room, kitchen, bedroom, and bathroom with a screened porch overlooking the water.

These cabins were built in 1935 by the Civilian Conservation Corps during the Great Depression. Three served visitors while one functioned as an administrative building.

These structures show the National Park Service Rustic style, which combined local materials and traditional craftsmanship. The wooden frames and stone chimneys shape their appearance and reveal how people once built in harmony with the surroundings.

The cabins sit within a state park and are accessible by pathways along the water. Visitors should expect rustic conditions and limited modern amenities.

During World War II, German prisoners of war helped build a stone retaining wall near the cabins. This work reveals an unexpected story of forced labor during wartime within this park.
