Bull Shoals Caverns

Bull Shoals Caverns is a show cave featuring limestone formations, flowing underground streams, and pools connected through multiple passages. The cave maintains a steady temperature of about 59 degrees Fahrenheit year-round.

Native peoples used the cave for shelter over 2000 years ago, and it later became important during the Civil War. Confederate soldiers mined saltpeter from its walls to produce gunpowder.

The name comes from a buffalo skull once found at the entrance, a detail visitors learn about while exploring. This origin story remains part of how locals understand and talk about the place.

The walking tour is easy to follow and takes about an hour to see all the main chambers. The passages are well lit and clearly marked, making it simple to navigate.

An underground waterfall sits hidden in the back section and can only be reached on guided tours. This secluded spot often surprises first-time visitors who discover it.
