Roaring Brook Falls, Scenic waterfall at Keene Valley, Adirondacks, United States.
Roaring Brook Falls is a waterfall in Keene Valley in the Adirondacks where water drops over multiple rock tiers visible from Route 73. The brook flows over exposed stone and creates a series of cascades that become particularly forceful after rainfall.
The waterfall formed through natural erosion over time and experienced major changes after landslides in 1963. These slides permanently altered the structure and appearance of the cascades.
The falls serve as an educational site where visitors learn about Adirondack geology and the regional ecosystem through interpretive programs.
A flat trail of about 0.3 kilometers leads to the base of the waterfall, while an additional path of about 0.5 kilometers reaches an upper viewing spot. Both routes are walkable and relatively easy to navigate.
In winter months the falling water freezes and creates icy formations that change throughout the cold season. These frozen cascades develop differently depending on temperature and moisture conditions.
