Quinnipiac River State Park, Public recreation area in North Haven, United States.
Quinnipiac River State Park protects 323 acres along the river in North Haven with four separate sections. The land combines forested floodplain areas with multiple points where visitors can access the water.
The park was created in 1948 following the construction of Wilbur Cross Parkway and has remained a conservation area ever since. Over more than 70 years, it has stayed an important natural space in the region.
The river attracts hikers, bird watchers, and anglers who visit throughout the year. Local people use the park for activities ranging from quiet walks to paddling expeditions during different seasons.
The four-mile Banton Quinnipiac Trail runs from Toelles Road to Banton Street with changing views along the way. The path alternates between sections at the riverbank and passages through raised woodland areas.
The floodplain forest experiences seasonal flooding that shapes distinctive oxbow curves in the landscape. These changing water conditions create habitat for less common wildlife like bald eagles and river otters.
