Northford Center Historic District

Northford Center Historic District is an old village core in Connecticut spanning nearly 230 acres with structures from the 1700s through the early 1900s. Buildings line the main avenue and demonstrate how architectural styles changed as the settlement grew and developed over centuries.

This settlement began as a small rural community in the early 1700s. During the 1800s it shifted toward manufacturing, becoming known for producing metal pins and screws in local workshops.

The Congregational Church at the heart of the district shows distinct architectural choices from the 1800s. Surrounding homes reflect how residents built and lived here across different time periods.

Spring through fall offers the most comfortable time to walk through the district as the weather stays mild. The main road is easily accessible on foot, allowing you to view buildings from the street and take in the layout at your own pace.

A tavern still standing on the grounds dates to 1776 and reflects how commerce and social gathering were part of colonial life here. Its survival offers a direct connection to how people moved through and used this space centuries ago.
