The Meriwether, Residential towers in South Waterfront, Portland, United States
The Meriwether consists of two residential towers with heights of 303 feet (92 meters) and 265 feet (81 meters), containing 24 and 21 floors respectively. The complex holds 245 residential units in total, including eleven townhomes with private garages.
The towers were completed in 2006 as the first residential development in the South Waterfront district. This marked the transformation of a former industrial shipyard area into a modern residential neighborhood.
The buildings take their name from explorer Meriwether Lewis, who led the famous expedition into the Pacific Northwest during the early 1800s.
The site offers direct access to Portland's public transportation network, making it easy to move around the city. Visitors and residents can conveniently reach various parts of town from this location.
The architecture was designed by Busby & Associates and GBD Architects to frame views of Mount Hood, Mount Saint Helens, and the Willamette River bend. These sightlines to three natural landmarks create something rarely found in urban residential developments.
