Spruce Street Harbor Park is a summer park at Penn's Landing in Philadelphia, with a pale-plank boardwalk running along the Delaware River. A row of small buildings lines one side, the nearest painted bright orange with black panels and circular vents; on the other, tall metal poles hold white canopies patterned with blue, orange and grey circles above silver tubs of plants.

The site opened in 2014 as part of efforts to bring people back to Philadelphia’s riverfront. Since then, it has grown from a seasonal pop-up into a regular summer fixture along the Delaware.

Spruce Street Harbor Park opened in 2014 as a summer festival with beer gardens, part of a push to call people back to the Delaware River waterfront. On Saturdays the Art Star Pop Up Market brings local artists selling candles, soaps, ceramics, art, home goods and jewelry. About 100 hammocks and thousands of LED lights strung in the trees are the park's signature.

Count on the park being open only during warm months, roughly from late spring into early fall, and more crowded after sunset. Bring a layer for the evening breeze and check the weather before you go, since the site closes in bad conditions.

The net lounge lets you lie suspended above the river on open mesh, with a liner underneath to catch dropped phones and wallets. The floating gardens are not just decoration; their plants help keep the marina water cleaner.
