Rodgers Peak, Mountain summit in Madera County, United States.
Rodgers Peak is a mountain summit located in Madera and Mono Counties in California's Sierra Nevada range. The peak stands at a high elevation and offers expansive views across the surrounding mountain landscape when weather permits.
The peak was named in 1895 to honor Captain Alexander Rodgers, who served as acting superintendent of Yosemite National Park during that era. The naming was done by Lieutenant N. F. McClure as part of his survey work in the region.
The mountain belongs to both the Sierra Peaks Section Peaks List and Vagmarken Club Sierra Crest List, representing significant achievements for mountain climbers.
The route to the summit is not technically difficult and allows a broad range of hikers to make the ascent. Climbers should prepare for high altitude and unpredictable weather conditions, especially during the colder months.
On clear days, the summit offers views of several neighboring major peaks including Mount Davis, Banner Peak, and Mount Ritter spread across the horizon. This vantage point makes it an excellent location for understanding the geography of the surrounding high country and tracking which peaks are visible from where.
