Juniper Hill Farm-Maxwell Evarts House, Colonial Revival mansion in Windsor, Vermont.
Juniper Hill Farm-Maxwell Evarts House is a Colonial Revival mansion in Vermont. The structure forms a U-shape with a central section under a hip roof with dormers and two-story wings on both sides.
Maxwell Evarts, a New York lawyer and son of William M. Evarts, had the house built in 1902. The residence later received President Theodore Roosevelt and President Woodrow Wilson as guests.
The ground floor displays woodwork from the early twentieth century, including a pantry with cabinets from that era. The library features built-in oak shelving that reflects the preference of wealthy families for solid materials.
The property sits on Juniper Hill Road northwest of Windsor's main village on roughly 14 acres of land. Since 2016 the building has functioned as Windsor Mansion Inn.
The southern facade carries an old entrance with narrow side windows and a semi-oval transom above. Remains of a colonnade in the Doric order are still visible there.
